The NICE Healthcare Databases will enable you to complete detailed literature searches i.e. locate various articles on a topic. You have access to 8 databases:
AMED - covers topics for allied health professions
BNI (British Nursing Index) - primarily of use for nurses but also includes allied health topics
CINAHL - international nursing and allied health
EMBASE - primarily European biomedicine - good for pharmacology and drug therapy
HBE- healthcare administration and other non-clinical aspects of healthcare institution management.
HMIC - health service management and organisation. Includes grey literature
MEDLINE - general medical database covering most health topics
PsycINFO - psychology and psychiatry
NOTE: To access the databases you will need an NHS OpenAthens account. If you do not have an account please click here to register.
Databases contain bibliographic records i.e references. Full-text will not be available for all articles - if you wish to access an article where full text is not available please request a copy using our request form.

Journals
Search or browse the Journals A-Z to check whether a journal is availabale to you in electronic format. You should search the Journals A-Z when you need to find a specific journal article and you have the exact reference detail.
Tip: Enter the title of the journal into the search box (not the title of the article).
You can access full text articles and see complete information about journals available to you with your NHS OpenAthens password.
Print Books
SWIMS is the South and West healthcare libraries' catalogue. This enables you to find books held by this Library (TOR) and also other NHS libraries across the South-West.
Books listed as available at TOR are held here. Other books not held here can be requested using our online request form.

Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) - provided by NICE. Contains summaries of the current evidence base and practical guidance on best practice in respect of 330+ primary care presentations.
Cochrane Library - a collection of databases that contain different types of high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making e.g. systematic reviews.
NICE Evidence - NICE search resource for freely available health information.Contains guidelines, other evidence-based resources, patient information and lots more.
Trip Database - clinical search engine designed to allow users to quickly and easily find and use high-quality research evidence to support their practice and/or care.
Patient.info - comprehensive directory of evidence-based clinical information.
